Naza Kia Customer Careline I

The official name for Kia Malaysia's customer service is Naza Kia Customer Careline. The hotline is 1-800-888-KIA (542).

Yesterday (Monday; 21 Dec 09), I called Customer Careline to lodge a report on the Kia Forte's headlight condensation defect. Two items which I wanted them to look into are,

  1. Service centre do not want to write a report on the headlight condensation defect. They will write a report only if I have a photograph of the headlight condensation. Why are they reluctant to write down in the service order what I've reported?
  2. Since this is a known defect, why aren't the mechanic informed about it. Kia should have a solution by now.
The Customer Careline personnel told me they will investigate the matter and get back to me. Lets see how will they handle this issue.

PS: After the call to Customer Careline, I posted the defect in MyForte (Facebook). One of the guys told me to read Kia Forte's manual page 7-56 "after driving in heavy rain or washing, headlight and tail light lenses could appear frosty...". Its sound like a "defect" that Kia do not want to fix or they "normalise" the "defect" to a non-issue. Now I'm beginning to wonder, which car manufacturer would inform their customer that, headlight condensation is normal and non-issue? Guys.. please do let me know if you find one coz I really would like to know.

  2. which glasses are you referring too? headlights as mentioned in the article or windscreen (front rear)?

If its headlights then, its a known problem. It happens because of temperature difference in the headlight compared to ambient temperature. I've been driving my car for more than 7 months. headlight still working perfectly fine. This doesn't not mean that I agree with Kia / Naza not returning a satisfactory answer / fix.

If its the windscreen, and aircon is in auto mode, the car's auto climate should handle it. Usually, it will just blow the air downwards. Then there is this button.. argh.. can't remember it now, read the manual. its a magic button to make the rear windscreen frost disappear :-D

  3. just to add on further. I think the real question that Kia or Naza need to answer officially is.. will the condensation shorten the lifespan of the electrical parts of the headlights.
If the answer is NO, then I believe lots of owners will be comforted. As of today, I've not heard of any official announcement as such.

  6. A few weeks ago we bought a Kia Forte ES and the day after taking it home we found both headlights fogged inside. The car is garaged.Went back to the dealer and it ordered a replacement set of lamps. A week later went back and had the headlight replaced. When I got home again the new ones were worst fogged still. I went back to the dealer and they promised to order new lamps. Now, twoo weeks later the called to say Kia had issued a bulleting saying the condition is normal and nothing else is to be done. It seems the south corean industry is tottally incapable of producing a good headlight assembly. Oh how I regret being lured to abandone the american auto industry I had used for all my life.

  9. Hi Forte owners. I too just got mine 2 week ago. I drove out my brand new Forte in a heavy thunderstorm. On reaching home i found both my headlights had water condensation in them. I tried and tried calling NAZA Careline but never seem to get through. This is the number that the Car Dealer gave me 03-79532892.I didn't know about the "cylindrical shaped small sponge" that Anonymus shared with us. Can i remove it on my own? Do i also have to get it drilled?! Thanks for your comments.Cheers! JD

  10. I have the same problem of fog in head lamps + signal lamps since 2 year new till now. Same answer given as to read the clause in manual. Can any other brand car have same problems? I had used 8 cars but had no such issue. Why such a famous company can't solve this problem.? I don't agree with the answer. If that is so they should put in the spec of the modal before selling and see how the response of the going to be buyers.(Just like house developers won,t put in " Houses on sale with cracks on walls" but after buying the found cracks all over. I hope buyers know what i mean. (Seller should be honest at least to an extense.
